CAMERA INSPECTIONS and Hydro-Jetting

A sewer line camera inspection, also known as a sewer inspection or sewer camera inspection, is a process of visually examining the inside of a sewer line using specialized camera equipment. It involves inserting a flexible camera attached to a cable into the sewer pipes to capture real-time video footage or images of the interior. Pipeline camera inspections are the most effective way to examine your underground sewer drain lines, sewer pipes, and overall plumbing system.

Fito Plumbers, Inc counts with several specialized camera equipment needed to complete sewer line inspections. Each video is saved and thoroughly analyzed.

Private Sewer Lateral (PSL)

A private sewer lateral (PSL) serves as the crucial link between a home's plumbing system and the municipal sanitary sewer line, typically situated beneath the street in front of the house. This important pipe is responsible for carrying all the wastewater generated in the home, including water from sinks and toilets, to the sewer, where it is then transported to a wastewater treatment facility.

Private sewer laterals are sometimes referred to as "side sewers" and consist of two main components:

1. Upper Sewer Lateral: This section of the pipe is closer to the home and extends from the building cleanout to the sidewalk area.

2. Lower Sewer Lateral: The lower lateral is closer to the street and encompasses the area from the sidewalk's curb cleanout to the public sewer main.

The responsibility for maintaining and managing the sewer lateral falls on the private property owner. The extent of this responsibility can vary depending on the location. For example, in some areas like Alameda, Albany, and Berkeley, California, homeowners are solely responsible for the upper lateral connection. However, in many cities in the San Francisco Bay Area, such as Oakland, property owners are accountable for both the upper and lower laterals.

It is essential for property owners to understand their obligations regarding the private sewer lateral to ensure its proper maintenance and prevent any issues that could lead to sewage backups or environmental contamination. Regular inspections, repairs, and necessary upgrades should be carried out to ensure the efficient functioning of the sewer lateral system and to comply with local regulations and standards.
